Kathy's Blog
October  2008

Spent a blissful 24 hours at the beach
recovering from September and getting
myself back in a peaceful space. It was
incredible to see the water so calm and
crystal clear. Very late in the afternoon
the clouds thinned and an unexpected
purple sunset spread across the water. I
felt privileged to be there and witness
it!
Here are some sketches I've been
doing on wood panel for the last few
months --reflections of my
house-sitting trip to Marin over the
summer. Just experimenting with the
colors and textures in preparation for
larger works. But, I love the surface
of these little "Anpersand" gesso
boards with a really deep cradle--it
makes you feel like you're doing a bit
more than doodling on a cocktail
knapkin!
One larger work is started on linen
but the surface wasn't sanded enough
so it's fighting me every inch of the
way.
